Kathmandu: A photo exhibition entitled 'Krantidekhi Shantisamma (From Revolution to Peace)' has begun to commemorate the birth centenary of former Prime Minister and ex-President of the Nepali Congress, the late Girija Prasad Koirala.

Organized by the NC Central Department of Information, Communications, and Publicity, the exhibition showcases significant snapshots from Koirala's life, captured by various photojournalists throughout his political career. The event is hosted at the meeting hall of the party's central office and features photos from before 2007 BS, Koirala's lifetime, and his contemporaries.

The exhibition reflects three key stages of Koirala's life: revolution, peace and development works, and the post-conflict peace process. Department Chief Min Bahadur Biswokarma emphasized that the photos clearly depict the stages of peace and development, Nepal's economy, and the NC's development model.

In addition to the photo exhibition, the event includes discussion sessions and documentary screenings. Koirala, who served as the head of the nation from 1 Magh 2063 to 8 Shrawan 2065 BS and as Prime Minister four times between 2048 and 2065 BS, joined politics through the labour movement in Biratnagar in 2004 BS and became the fifth President of the NC from 29 Baisakh 2053 to 7 Chaitra 2066 BS. Born on 18 Asar 1981, Koirala passed away on 7 Chaitra 2066 BS.

The exhibition aims to educate present and future generations about Koirala's contributions, spanning from revolution to the peace process. According to the NC, the exhibition will continue until this evening.

Inaugurating the exhibition, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba praised Koirala's contributions to establishing the Republic in Nepal. "Girija Babu's contribution to the establishment of the Republic will always be remembered," Deuba said, noting that Koirala played a pivotal role in restoring democracy and establishing the Republic. "Girijababu was active in the country's politics since the 2007 revolution and was a tireless warrior of the democratic movement," he added.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' observed the photo exhibition on Tuesday, marking Koirala's 100th birth anniversary. Prachanda visited the exhibition and reflected on Koirala's significant moments.

Former Prime Ministers KP Sharma Oli and Dr Baburam Bhattarai also attended the exhibition at the NC party central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur. A talk program was held to honor Koirala's contributions to the country's peace process and politics. Former PM Dr Bhattarai, NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and CPN (UML) leader Pradip Gyawali shared their insights on Koirala's life and political impact.
